Season Ends for Leviathan in Semi-Finals

10 08 2016

It was the Semi-Finals for the League Playoffs & it was another hot gameday for the Leviathan—unfortunately, their bats weren’t quite as hot as the temperature. Either was their fielding. Holy Name Church put a beating on the Leviathan by a score of 26-12 on Tuesday night at the YMCA @ Pabst Farms.

The Game got off to a rough start as Holy Name took advantage of some costly Leviathan errors and put up 10 runs in the opening inning, to take a 10-2 lead. The 2nd and 3rd innings were not much better, as the Leviathan were shutout and Holy Name added to their lead. After 3 innings, White Stone trailed 17-2. Holy Name Church had their power bats going, as they blasted 10 homeruns on the night—the most put up ever against the Leviathan. 2016-08-10 16.01.24
The guys in red made it interesting as they scored 7 runs in the top of the 4th, to make it 17-9, but HNC answered with 4 in the bottom of the 4th (21-9). The game finally ended with the Leviathan falling by a score of 26-12. The offensive leaders for the night were Brad Fraser (3-3, 3B, R, 2RBI), Tigh Kemnitz (3-4, 3R), Brian Wiemer (2-3, 2B, R, 2RBI), Jake Andrus (2-3, 2 doubles, 2R, 2RBI), and Josh Watson (2-3, 2B, R, RBI).
Manager Adam Andrus had this to say about the game,
“We gave it all we had tonight…unfortunately, they also gave it all they had. And they had more to give. We gave it our all, but our all was less than their all, and that’s really all I can say about it.”
When asked about the 2016 season, Andrus said,
“This was definitely a season of ups and downs, but mostly downs. We had a great bunch of guys and we definitely had a fun time this year. We lost to some teams we probably should’ve beat, but we beat a great Behemoths team that we weren’t as talented as. Hopefully we can use our playoff success this season to build for the 2017 season. Thanks to all our fans who really supported us this season!”

The White Stone Leviathan finish the 2016 with a record of 6-7, which is their first losing season since 2008 (5-6-1).

Leviathan take 2013 Season Opener

8 05 2013

Game1_LukeS

The 2013 softball season started out on the right foot for the White Stone Leviathan as they defeated Oakwood Blue by a score of 7-4. It was an absolutely beautiful day at the ballpark (YMCA), and the fans saw a very competitive game by the two teams.

The game started with good defense by both teams, as White Stone took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Blue soon answered and tied the game up at one apiece in the bottom of the 3rd. The game remained tied until the Leviathan put up 2 runs in the 5th to make the score 3-1. White Stone’s good defense and the stellar pitching of veteran Richard LaTour was keeping Oakwood from putting together anything substantial, offensively. The game was still 3-1 until the bottom of the 6th inning, when Oakwood hit 2 solo homers to tie the game at 3. That is when the bats started to come alive for the good guys in white, as White Stone put up 4 runs to take a 7-3 lead! The inning really got going when Michael Javornik hit a 2-run homer, driving in Jake Andrus. Great base running and some good hits put White Stone in command of the game, and LaTour would only allow one run in the bottom of the 7th, for the final score to be 7-4 in favor of the Leviathan.

There were many stars of the game for the Leviathan, but the players of the game would have to have been pitcher Richard LaTour (7 innings pitched, 4 runs allowed) and 3rd Baseman and BIRTHDAY BOY Michael Javornik (3-3, double, 2-run HR, 2RBI). Even though the bats really didn’t come alive until the 7th, the Leviathan defense looked like it was in mid-season form. Other notables from the game: Rookie  Brandon Kane (2-3, 3 runs scored), 1B Terry Andrus (2-2, BB, run, RBI), catcher Luke Dye (2-3, 2 RBI), and 2nd baseman Luke Schweng (2-3, RBI).

Birthday boy Michael Javornik had this to say after the game,
“Tonight before the game I only had 2 birthday wishes—to get a homerun…and for our team to win! And wouldn’t you know it, they both came true!! What an amazing day!”

The Leviathan are now 1-0 on the season, as Oakwood Blue drops to 0-1. Next Tuesday the boys take on Westbrook Alpha at 7pm @Legion Field in Delafield. Hope you will be able to join us, as the first 10,000 in attendance get a Michael Javornik maple-leaf pin.
