The dream season continues as the White Stone Leviathan defeated Oakwood Red by a score of 10-9 on Tuesday night at Mission Field in Delafield. This marks the first time that the Leviathan have beaten Red in team history. After Red took an early 2-1 lead after 1 inning, the Leviathan scored 4 in the 2nd to recapture the lead 5-2. Three more White Stone runs in the 3rd inning and 2 from Red, make the score 8-4. Both teams went scoreless in the 4th inning, & White Stone Pitcher Caleb Kruse was picking his spots out nicely. In the top of the 5th, the Leviathan added 2 runs to make the score 10-4, but Red exploded for 5 runs to pull within 1 run 10-9. With the darkness approaching and the time nearing it’s limit, the umpire called for the 6th inning to be the final inning to the game. The top of the 6th went quickly for the Leviathan, and they weren’t able to add to their 1-run lead. With Red coming up, it looked like it was going to be tough to hold on to a tiny 1-run lead. The first batter ripped a line drive to right-center field and Brian Zastrow made ESPN TOP 10 worthy diving catch for out number one.
The second batter flew out to pitcher Kruse for out number two. The third batter connected and drove the ball to right-center field where Zastrow again made the play, to end the game. It was definitely a hard-fought win for the Leviathan, and even though their offense couldn’t get much going, the defense and pitching really came through for them.
White Stone improves their record to 8-0-1 and Oakwood Red sees their record fall to 6-2 on the season. Next week the Leviathan take on Oakwood Blue (6pm @ Oakwood Churh) in a match-up that may determine the Regular Season League Champions!
