Leviathan Start Season All Tied-Up

11 05 2017

wpid-logo-for-hats.pngIn the first game of the 2017, Leviathan took on Holy Name of Jesus Church, and it ended in an 11-11 tie. Though it was the first game of the season for both teams, the game featured solid defense and good hitting. Because of darkness, the game was going to be called after the 6th inning. HNOJ scored a few runs in the top of the 6th, but the Leviathan stormed back to tie the game and had the bases loaded with one out. In a fluke play, Adam Andrus hit a fly ball well into the outfield, but the Leviathan runner came home and didn’t touch the plate…he touched the pitching mat behind the plate. When the Umpire saw what happened, the catcher put the tag on the runner and it was a double-play. The umpire then decided to extend the game by one more inning, but both teams were held off of the scoreboard, with White Stone stranding a man on third base.
