Two teams, One Family. #blessed #epic_rivalry #boomshakalaka

In an epic battle between 2nd place White Stone Leviathan (6-0-1) and third place White Stone Behemoth (6-1), the Leviathan barely edged their brothers in orange by a score of 18-15. Behemoth scored 2 runs in the top of the first, but the Leviathan answered putting up a six spot in the bottom of 1 and then adding 5 more in the 2nd, to take a 11-2 lead. Behemoth scored 3 in the 3rd and 7 in the 4th, to actually take a 12-11 lead. But that lead would be short-lived, as the Leviathan scored 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to regain a 13-12 advantage. Shortstop Josh Watson’s towering grand slam in the 5th extended the Leviathan lead to 17-12.  After each team put up one run in the 6th, the score was 18-13. In the top of the 7th, the Behemoth mounted a small comeback, but they were only able to score 2 runs as they were defeated by a score of 18-15.

There were many offensive standouts for the Leviathan on the night, including Josh Watson (2 Hits, HR, 2 R, 5 RBI), Caleb Kruse (HR, 2 R, 4 RBI), Jake Andrus (3

The win gives the Leviathan a 7-0-1 record & puts them in first place in the league. The loss drops the Behemoth to 6-2, and puts them into 5th place, but only .5 game out of 3rd place.

*Brandon Kane has again joined the Leviathan after spending the last year and a half playing for AAA New Glarus in the Bovine League.

Leviathan Stun Behemoth in 2nd Round!

3 08 2016

Round 2 of the League Playoffs (Aug 2, 7pm) saw the top 2 White Stone teams face off in a battle between Regular Season Champion White Stone Behemoth vs the White Stone Leviathan. In their previous 2016 match-up, the Behemoth destroyed the Leviathan by a score of 21-7…and the score makes the game appear closer than it really was! But Tuesday night was different. The Leviathan just came off their 10-7 1st Round win and had momentum on their side. wp-1470241268093.jpg
The 1st inning saw the visiting Leviathan jump out to a 4-1 early lead—and it was a lead they would never relinquish. With a 7-spot in the 3rd inning, the score was suddenly 12-2. The Behemoth mounted a small comeback by putting up 4 runs in the 6th inning, but it wasn’t enough. The final score was Leviathan 14, Behemoth 7. Adam Andrus pitched another fantastic game, actually striking out more batters than he walked. Josh Watson blasted 2 homers, while 3rd Baseman Brian Wiemer belted a home run of his own. Some of the offensive leaders for the game were Josh Watson (3-3, 2 HR, 2R, 4RBI), Brian Wiemer (2-3, 3B, HR, R, 4RBI), Brian Zastrow (2-2, 2R, 2RBI), Jake Andrus (3-4, 2 doubles, 2R, 2RBI), and Luke Schweng (2-3).

The Leviathan improve their season record to 6-6, while the Behemoth fall for only the 2nd time all season (9-2). Congrats to the Behemoth for an amazing season, where they were definitely the most talented team in the league. 9-2 and a regular season championship is certainly something to be proud of! The Leviathan now move on to the 3rd Round of the League Playoffs for the 4th time in their history, and they will face Holy Name on Tuesday, August 9th @ 6:30pm @ The YMCA at Pabst Farms. Please come on out and support the guys! So far, our fans have undoubtedly been the best fans in the league!!! You guys rock!!

Leviathan lose to Behemoths in Nailbiter

2 06 2016

On Tuesday night, on a rain-soaked Mission Field, the White Stone Leviathan lost to their arch-rivals/brothers the White Stone Behemoth, by a score of 21-7.

It was brutal.
But hey, we love those guys, so win/win.
Except for the embarrassing loss.

Shorthanded Leviathan Fall to Behemoths

22 07 2015

2015 White Stone Classic

In a game of White Stone brothers, this was a classic! The 2nd place Behemoths scored 10 runs in the opening inning on some decent hitting and terrible defense. But the Leviathan wouldn’t go away despite only having 9 guys! Unfortunately for the guys in red, the comeback fell just short as the Behemoths beat the Leviathan by a score of 16-15.

After the 10 runs given up in the first inning, the Leviathan defense was pretty solid…only giving up 6 runs in the remaining 6 innings. Some of the offensive stars for the Leviathan were Adam Andrus (4-5, 2B, 3R), Josh Watson (4-5, 3R, 2RBI), & Luke Dye (3-3, R, RBI).

The Leviathan lose to the Behemoths for the 2nd straight year, as they now are tied in the all-time series 2-2. The Behemoths finish the regular season as the #2 seed at 8-1, while the Leviathan finish the regular season as the #5 seed at 5-4.
