Leviathan Win with Walk-Off Walk

19 05 2015

image The White Stone Leviathan have started off the 2015 season 2-0 as they defeated a persistent St Catherine’s team by a score of 18-17. The Leviathan were down by one run going into the bottom of the final inning, & through some clutch hitting, they tied the game at 17. St Catherine’s then intentionally walked Luke Schweng and put him on 1st to load the bases. In his first game as a Leviathan, Tyler M took 3 straight (poor) pitches to walk in the winning run.

White Stone and St Catherine’s traded off with big innings. To start the game, St Catherine’s scored 5 runs in the first, and then the Leviathan answered with 2 of their own. The 3rd inning was big for White Stone as 10 men touched home. The score was 16-9 in the top of the 5th, and St Catherine’s exploded for 8 runs to take a 1-run lead. Because of darkness, the Leviathan would only have the bottom of the 5th to make a comeback. White Stone scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to win a nail-biter!

Kirk Hansen hit a huge homerun over the left-center field wall to lead the charge. Kirk had 3 RBI and scored 2 Runs on the night. White Stone was also led offensively by Adam Andrus (3-3, 3 Runs, 2 RBI), Jost Watson (3-3, 2 2B, 3 Runs, 3 RBI), Jake Andrus (3-3, 3B, Run, 6 RBI), amd Tigh Kemnitz (3-3, Run).

The Leviathan are now 2-0 on the season and have a bye next week (May 26th).
