Back to Winning Ways vs St Catherine’s

16 07 2014

Team LeviathanThe Leviathan were on a season-long 2 game losing streak, when they got back to winning their ways Tuesday night at the YMCA. White Stone beat St Catherine’s by a score of 16-7 to improve their record to 4-3, and join the hunt for the top 2 seeds in the League Tournament (which would earn them a 1st Round bye).

The boys did something that they really haven’t done all season—they got off to an early lead! In fact, after 2 innings, the Leviathan were already in front 7-1. White Stone played one of their most complete games of the season, and it was against a solid St Catherine’s team (who took it to Oakwood Red last week in a big win)!

Besides their tight defense, the Leviathan had some consistent hitting—up and down the line-up. Catcher Matt Sell sparked the offense with a triple, double, and walk. Sell also batted in 3 runs while providing some great energy on the field. Adam and Jake Andrus both had 4 hits, with Adam scoring 3 runs and Jake had 3 rbi. Team batting leader, Mike Connell stayed red-hot, going 2-2 with 3 rbi. Other offensive leaders for the team were: Tigh Kemnitz (3-4, 2 runs, 1 rbi). Brandon Kane (3-4, run, 2 rbi), and Brad Fraser (2 hits, run, 2 rbi).

The White Stone Leviathan are now 4-3 on the season and are tied at 5th in the standings, along with Oakwood Red. Next week the guys take on Highview @ Fireman’s Park at 7pm on Tuesday—come out and support the team as it is Brandon Kane Mullet Night at the Ballpark. The first 300 people with Mullets get into the park, free of charge!
