The White Stone Leviathan lost in heartbreaking form on Tuesday night, as they fell to Westbrook Alpha by a score of 13-12. The White Stone bats got off to an early start, as the guys jumped out to an 8-2 lead going in to the 4th inning. That is when the Alpha offense kicked into gear—Westbrook score 10 runs in the inning, and took a 12-8 lead. The Leviathan than answered in the 5th inning, with 4 runs of their own to tie the game, highlighted by a 3-run homer to right field by left-fielder Jake Andrus. After the 5th inning the umpire determined that (because of light) the game would only be played out 6 innings. White Stone had a prime opportunity to take the lead in the top of the 6th, with runners on 1st & 2nd and no outs, but they couldn’t drive in any runs. Alpha then put a run in their half of the 6th to win the game. It was a tough loss for the guys, who really played well defensively, and started off the game with such hot bats.
Some of the stars of the game for White Stone were Adam Andrus (2hits, 2runs, rbi), Brandon Kane (2 for 2, 2runs, rbi), Terry Andrus (2 for 2, double, 3rbi), and Jake Andrus (2 for 2, HR, 3 rbi, 3runs).
White Stone is now 1-1 on the season and faceoff against Westbrook Omega next week at the YMCA.
