Leviathan Earn Split in Double-Header

Last night the White Stone Leviathan played their first double-header since last year’s league playoffs.

In the first game, White Stone played Oakwood Blue at Legion Field. The bats were certainly cold for the Leviathan, as they only squeaked out 2 runs and lost 2-9. Adam Andrus was the only player to have 2 hits in the game—and most of the team only had 2 at bats. It was certainly a game that the MOS were looking forward to forgetting.

Game two thankfully went much better, as the Leviathan topped last year’s league champions, Dr Martin Luther (2), by a score of 8-5. Adam Andrus again led the offense as he collected 3 hits and scored 3 runs. First baseman Terry Andrus (3 rbi), Pitcher Doug Harper (2 rbi), and Third Baseman Michael Javornik (2 rbi) led the team in runs batted in. Matt Sell tore the cover off of the ball, as well. Richard LaTour went the distance and pitched all 7 innings of the game, only allowing 5 runs to the defending Champs.

Matt Sell had this to say after the double-header,
“Tonight we played 2 very tough teams—Blue is consistently one of the best year after year, and DML2 was last year’s Champion—so to get a win tonight is good. We definitely need to be better at the plate, though. I’ve been thinking of possibly benching a few of the White Stone pastors if they don’t start hitting the ball better—wait, is that not a good idea? Well, I’m sure God would understand. Anyway, I’m happy with the effort in Game 2 tonight, and I hope it will carry over to next week!”

Next week the White Stone Leviathan take on St Catherine’s at 6pm (@ Legion Field).
Come out and support the guys!
