The 2011 season ended for the Men of Stone on Tuesday night, as they suffered a 10-7 loss in the semifinals of the Delafield Softball League Playoffs. The loss came to #2 seeded Dr Martin Luther (2), who advance to the league championship next Tuesday. (It was White Stone’s first ever loss to DML2 since entering the league in 2007). All through the playoffs the Men of Stone have started the games strong, and this game was no exception as they scored runs in the first 3 innings of the game (1, 2, & 4). Unfortunately, that was all the offense the guys would get on Tuesday night. After jumping out to a 7-0 lead, DML responded with 10 unanswered runs. It was a tough loss for the MOS, as they were looking to advance to their first ever League Championship game. Adam Andrus and Jake Andrus led the team with 3 hits each, and Brad Bayerline knocked in 3 RBI. Kemnitz, Terry Andrus, Murphy, and Bayerline also added 2 hits for the MOS. The Men of Stone also had some steller play in the field, as Adam Andrus excited the crowd with an amazing diving catch for the 3rd out of an inning.
The loss brings the Men of Stone record to 7-7 on the 2011 season. It is the 3rd straight year the guys have lost in the semifinal game of the playoffs; they look to get over the hump next year! The team wants to thank all the fans this year for all the amazing support—White Stone by far had the most fan support out of any league team! Thank you for being fans who represented Jesus in your actions and words—we, as a team, are very proud of you! Thanks for a great season!
