MOS Break out of Slump vs DML2

MOS Players in a Recent Game

The Men of Stone finally broke out of their slump by defeating a strong Dr Martin Luther (2) team on Tuesday night by a score of 7-6. (White Stone had lost 3 straight). ((Side-Note: Vegas odds had the MOS as 3-run underdogs for the match-up, as word had gotten out that stars Luke Dye and Jim Fraser would be absent from the contest.))
The guys started off strong by holding DML to a scoreless 1st inning, and then putting up 5 runs in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately, the hitting all but stopped after the 1st inning. The night, however, was not about the offense, but about the Men of Stone Pitching/Fielding. Richard LaTour stepped up big after a few shaky games, and Doug Harper shut down the DLM batters. For the most part, the fielders for the Men of Stone played solid and consistent defense—a welcome sight after a few rough games.

The top four White Stone batters went an astounding 11 for 12 at the plate, scoring 6 of the 7 runs. Josh Watson and Terry Andrus led the offense—each had 2 RBI on the night. T. Andrus, Schmidt, and Kemnitz also added 2 hits each. Third baseman Michael Javornik once again hit the ball hard, but once again, the defense were in perfect position. Javornik had this to say after the game,

“Am i glad we won? Yes. Of course i am. Am I glad that teams put out 13 fielders when i bat? The answer to that foolish question would be “No.” Stop asking foolish questions…this interview is over!”

White Stone will try to stay on the winning path as they play their “make-up” game vs Westbrook Omega next Tuesday (July 5th) @ 7pm @ Fireman’s Park in Delafield. Click here to see the MOS updated ’11 Schedule. Click here to see the up-to-date 2011 Individual Player Statistics.
