In their first game at Fireman’s Park this season, the Men of Stone Softball Team lost a close game to Westbrook Alpha by a score of 12-8. The game started terribly for White Stone, as Alpha tallied 7 runs in the very first inning. White Stone had some fight in them, as they worked their way closer to Alpha, but it wasn’t enough. Fielding and base-running errors plagued the guys, and ultimately was the reason they came up short. Adam Andrus lead the team with 3 hits on the night, and several others followed with 2 hits. Jake Andrus hit a 3-run homer and totaled 4 RBI, while Richard LaTour knocked in 2.
Utility player Ed Schmit had this to say after the game,
“It’s always tough when you get yourself in a big hole early like we did tonight. We have been lacking something the last couple of games, and i can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’s that new Styrofoam bat we’ve been using. No, that can’t be it. Oh well, we will fight back and come strong next week!”
Come cheer on the MOS as they take on Oakwood Blue next week at 6pm at Firemans Park!
