The men from White Stone defeated St Catherine’s Softball Team by a score of 10-5 Tuesday night at Fireman’s Park in Delafield. The Men of Stone needed to get back on track, after a tough loss last week against Oakwood Red. Even though it was a low scoring affair, there were definitely some stars on Tuesday night! Six White Stoners collected two hits on the night (J. Andrus, Javornik, T. Andrus, Fraser, Dye, Schweng), and shortstop Josh Watson continued his red-hot hitting as he collected 3 hits, while also playing stellar infield defense. But the star of the night was undoubtedly Richard LaTour. Richard not only collected 3 hits, but also knocked in a team leading 4 RBI. LaTour was “lights out” as Doug Harper’s relief pitcher as well. To put the cherry on the top, Richard made a great defensive play on a line drive up through the middle, robbing a St Catherine’s batter of a base hit. For all this, Richard was the nights MVP.
After the game, we caught up with LaTour and this is what he had to say,
“Tonight was probably the best game i’ve ever had…and i think i probably owe it all to my shoes. I’ve had these bad-boys since i was 22 years old, and the great part is, they’ve never let me down. Well, i mean that figuratively, of course. I mean, they’ve literally let me fall down thousands of times because the bottom of the shoes are as smooth as a bowling ball—but in a figurative way, they’ve never let me down.”
With the win, the Men of Stone improve to 5-3 on the season. Next Tuesday the MOS again do battle with St Catherine’s, but this time they meet at Legion Field in Delafield at 6pm. It is “Adam Andrus Booboo Day”, and anyone who comes to the game wearing any type of bandage or brace will get a free autograph from MOS 2nd baseman, Adam Andrus.
