The MOS used great pitching and good defense to get their 2nd win of the season. Right out of the gate Doug Harper tossed a scoreless first inning which then allowed the MOS to opening the scoring with 2 runs in the bottom half of the first. The two teams then went back and forth and went into the bottom of the fourth tied at 4. Then with the bases loaded Dave Fisher hit a rocket over the left fielder’s head leading to a three-run triple. Luke Dye then knocked in Fisher to cap the scoring.
Fisher was later heard saying, “If that old man running in front of me would have had any speed I would have had a grand slam! Ah well.”
Richard LaTour came in to pitch starting in the fifth inning, and it was lights out from there. LaTour held DMLC1 to no runs in three innings pitched. The only blemish for LaTour on the night was a line drive up the middle that gave him a nice bruise on his forearm. LaTour said he used that as motivation to keep DMLC1 off the scoreboard.
It was a well-rounded performance that took the MOS to victory. Led by solid pitching, good defense, and a solid offensive output led by Dave Fisher (3 RBI, 2 runs scored) and Luke Dye (2-2 with 2 RBI).
