Huge Comeback Gives MOS 1st Win of the Season

Dave Fisher rounds 3rd and heads home

After sitting out a week because of last week’s rainout, the Men of Stone Softball Team were excited to get back on the field. Terry Andrus was featured last week in a New York Times piece about “Grandpa Athletes”. In the (soon to be) award winning story, Terry said,
“It’s great to be on a team that is more concerned with serving God than it is with winning…although it would certainly be nice to get out on the field and actually win, too. The biggest thing that motivates us, though, is…”
Terry fell asleep mid interview and never completed his thought.
But as the quote displays, this MOS Team was ready to play.

Tuesday night was a beautiful night for softball, but unfortunately, the Divine Redeemer Beacons jumped all over the Men of Stone, putting up 8 runs in the first inning. Thankfully, the game didn’t end there…and the White Stone guys came roaring back with a couple huge innings offensively. Dave Fisher led the team with 3 hits, while Adam Andrus, Jake Andrus, Luke Dye, Brad Bayerline, and Jeremy Johnston all had multiple RBIs.

The defense also had some steller moments including a double-play turned by Watson and Adam Andrus. Doug Harper came in the game after the second inning and did the brunt of the pitching for the MOS.

Next week the MOS take on the Divine Redeemer Crusaders @ 7pm at the Legion Field in Delafield.
The first 20 White Stone fans will receive “Terry Andrus Therapeutic Pillows.”
