League Leaders Beat ‘Stoners

8 07 2009

Michael takes a huge cutIn battle with the league leaders, the Men of Stone hung around, but came up just short. Oakwood Blue came into the night with a 9-1 record, and White Stone with a 5-4 record—both teams looking to stay hot going into the postseason. Even though White Stone gave it all they had, they lost a tough one by a score of 11-17. This game was a game of rallies—-first it was Oakwood, who took a commanding 8-1 lead, but saw that lead disappear as the MOS put together a huge inning of their own. While White Stone showed heart, it just wasn’t enough against a very talented Oakwood Blue team.

The fielding was lead by middle infielders Adam Andrus and Josh Watson, while the hitting was lead by Dave Fisher who belted a homerun to left field.  Doug Harper pitched a very nice game in relief of starter Richard LaTour.

Oakwood improves their league leading record to 10-1, while White Stone saw their record drop back to even, at 5-5. White Stone now plays a make-up game against a tough Westbrook Alpha team, next Tuesday @ 6pm (at the Fish Hatchery).
