In a close opener, the White Stone Men fell to Highview 12-7 on Thursday night at Fireman’s Park in Delafield. The rust was obvious for the MOS, as their bats were mostly silent, and their fielding was definitely not up to par.
All in all, it was a somewhat disappointing opener for the MOS—but there were some bright spots for the Stoners: a few guys had good nights with the bat: Matt Sell, Ryan Duel, Luke Dye, and Dave Fisher all had some big hits for the MOS. Also, there were a few great fielding plays: Adam Andrus made a spectacular over-the-shoulder grab in foul territory, but the umpire mysteriously called it “out-of-play”. The MOS outfielders also had a solid night manning the open range.
Manager Matt Sell had this to say about the game, “It was an ugly game, but our guys fought until the end…we are still a little rusty, but i know we will be ready for next weeks game against Dr Martin Luther!”
