MOS Lose Nailbiter to Oakwood Red

10 07 2007

On a beautiful Tuesday night in Delafield, the MOS lost their 4th game of the season by a score of 10-13. Overall, it was a well played game by both squads. Oakwood Red won their 5th game of the season, to improve their overall record to 5-3.

Oakwood jumped out to a early 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd, but the Men of Stone came out firing with 9 runs in the bottom of the frame. Everyone got in on the action, as guys were hustling out infield singles, and others were driving the ball. Unfortunately, Oakwood answered and tallied 8 in the top of the 3rd to take a 10-9 lead. Matt Elstad finished out the scoring for the MOS with a deep drive to left-center field, and ended up scoring on an inside the park homer.

The score remained 10-10 until the top of the 7th, when Oakwood rallied and put 3 on the board. White Stone could not answer in the bottom of the 7th, as they went 1-2-3.

It was a well played defensive game for the MOS, as Josh Watson made some spectacular plays at Shortstop, and Doug Harper also made an outstanding grab from the mound. Doug Harper had this to say about the game,

“We played decent tonight. I had the wife and the daughter here tonight, so i was ready to put on an offensive and defensive clinic. I pretty much pulled my weight, unfortunately a few of our guys couldn’t pull theirs—mainly Jake Andrus who went a horrid 0-3. Wow…0-3 in softball? Softball? Wow. Anyways, we’ll get back on track next game!”

The MOS look to get back in the winning column as they take on a tough DR Beacons team next Tuesday at the Fish Hatchery @ 6pm. Thank you to all who have come out and supported the team—please continue to come and show your support!!!
